The Public Service Workers Union has sent a message to it members as workers celebrate International Workers Day.
The PSWU is made of institutions that do not fall do not fall under the local authority in the various jurisdiction including NCCE, NCC, VRA, AUDIT GBC, NYA among others.
Speaking on the theme protecting jobs and incomes in the era of COVID- 19 and beyond, Madam Felicia Kraja, the industrial relations officer for Northern, Savannah and North- East Regions said the celebration is global for that matter Ghana being part of it.
According Madam Felicia every one should try and belong to a union in order for them to protect their income and jobs, even the head potters now belong to a union, she noted.
She said either Ghana celebrate or not the world will celebrate it adding that its celebration is to check the eroding nature of conditions of service of workers.
Adding a voice on the celebration of the day, Bole District Chairman of Public Service Workers Union Mr Alidu Sumani, stressed the need for workers to belong to union and wish his jurisdictional members a happy workers day.
May Day started in USA with agitation about conditions of services, from 1880 and 1886 May Day was introduced but Ghana in 1960 with our first president as the first best worker.
