Motorists plying the ailing Mandari -Chache road connecting the Black Volta that borders Bole and Cote d’ Voire will soon be relieved of its deplorable nature.
In spite of its very busy nature and importance to the nation economically it has been a source of concern to most motorists in the last years given its deplorable state.
Troubled by public complaints about the deplorable state of the Mandari – Chache stretch of the route the erstwhile NDC administration awarded the contract for rehabilitation of the road to one Nana Koranteng since 2015.
Expectation that the project would be completed on record time was high given the speed at which the firm mobilized to the site.
However this optimism gave way to despair when the firm pulled out of site two years ago(2018).
However the return of the construction firm to site last week has further rekindled the hope of the people that the project would be completed this time around.
The District Chief Executive, of the area Madam Veronica Alele Herming who seems not pleased at the nature in which the contractor is executing the project told Yagbon Radio Abdul Fatawu Diwura during Tuesday’s morning show that, she hopes the contractor will complete the project this time round.
“That road is claiming lives of people and I don’t know why the contractor is so dull in the project”, she indicated.
She added that the contractor has dug gutter’s in town around mango lane which has affected water supply to residents around that area.
The DCE said the contractor should speed up with works on the road and complete the town roads too which were equally awarded to him since 2015.
Hon. Veronica added that the Assembly would not hesitate to terminate projects of contractors who are found to be unduly delaying their execution.
She said the contractor should ensure that he works strictly within the time scheduled and meet the contract specifications.
“I am not just happy with the manner in which the contractor is working on the Mandari- Chache road because it is long over due”, she added.
Hon. Veronica said the contractor has not completed the projects awarded to him and yet he goes round lobbying for more contracts which madam Veronica said will not be possible for the contractor to gain more contracts when he hasn’t completed previous projects.
