Ten dams earmarked for the Bole District under the One Village One Dam Project (1V1D) have been completed and ready for use in the next dry season for farming.
Madam Veronica Alele Heming, the Bole District Chief Executive, said this during the first ordinary meeting of the eighth Assembly of the Bole District Assembly held on Tuesday, 29th September, 2020 to showcase the state of development especially the implementation of Government flagship programmes and how they were impacting lives in the District and to debate on the 2021 composite budget for the District.
The dams are sited at Mankuma,Teslima, Lanpoga, Chibrinyo, Maluwe, Sakpa, Kpenaayiri, Dakrupe, Tanype and Konjumah.
“I am highly impressed with dams so far and I have been assured that after the raining season some more communities will be selected to benefit “, she said.
The Planting for Food and Jobs has improved farming in the District, in 2020 major farming season, 1,566 farmers received subsided fertilizers and improved agro- seeds comprising 40 females and 1,526 males whiles under the rearing for food and jobs initiative 75 farmers received sheep which comprised of 64 males and 11 females, she indicated.
Under the safety net programme, 50, 000 seedlings of cashew were distributed to interested farmers while 13 motorbikes were received from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and distributed to extension officers to enhance monitoring, she added.
Speaking on education, Madam Veronica said that educational standards in the District has dwindled and implored the District Education Director and his team to beef up their monitoring and supervisory role at schools.
According to her a total of 1,164 took part in the recently edend BECE made up of 573 boys and 591 girls whiles at the SHS level exams, Bole SHS had 426 boys and 252 girls, Bamboi also had 107 boys and 67 girls who took part in the exams with one of the girls absent. At St. Anthony of Padua SHS 104 boys, 57 girls making a total of 161 students wrote the exams.
The DCE however wasn’t happy with the huge drop in number of girls in Senior High Schools and therefore called for a concerted efforts in changing the trend.
On health, the DCE maintained no positive case of covid-19 has been recorded while the cases of HIV/AIDS keeps on surging and hence advised all residents to be wary of the disease and urged residents to regularly check their wellbeing and testing for the virus will lead to early detection and subsequently put him or her on drugs.
Speaking on environmental health and sanitation, Madam Veronica said community members ought to take sanitation very serious and keep the surroundings clean, avoid indiscriminate disposal of refuse in the gutters and at public places and continue to practice regular and proper hand washing to prevent or reduce diseases in our communities.
Madam Veronica told the House that peace has returned to Bole in the chieftaincy dispute as the overlord has settled on Sarfo Kutege Feso l, as Bolewura and had since blessed him since July, 20, 2020.
The Bole District 2021 composite budget with a total estimate of 12,825,236.92 Ghana Cedis was approved by the Assembly Members of the District.
The Composite Budget set to analyze revenues performances in 2020, and how to project revenues towards 2021 for the District. Also, it aimed at minimizing duplication and ensuring cost effectiveness and efficiency in the economy to achieve set goals.
