Nasco Feeding Minds Organizes Climate Advocacy Program At Sawla.

Nasco Feeding Minds, an NGO in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region has on Saturday 16th December 2023 organized a forum on climate at Awusi Lodge in Sawla.

Speaking at the forum, the Executive Director of Nasco Feeding Minds, Mr. Banasco Seidu Nuhu mentioned that they have joined hands in advocating for Climate action and to engage stakeholders, teachers, students and also community people on what they can all do to combat the effect of climate change.

The Executive Director also added that for about five years now they have engaged students and communities on bee keeping as part of their Green Agriculture project.

“So this forum today is to bring all major stakeholders together so that we can have a holistic discussion on what we can do individually and collectively to combat the effects of climate change and so we outlined the activities that we have been doing in the area and also we have our club members which we formed Green Club in schools and also formed advocacy groups in communities and so it is to dialogue and appreciate their work and to strengthen the collaboration that we have with all the local entities to ensure that we fight manners of climate change” he said.

Mr. Banasco Seidu Nuhu in his presentation added that Nasco Feeding Minds also have one of the biggest Project in the sub-region which is the REFECT Africa Project and it is a project that will be recycling agricultural waste mainly to generate electricity and bio-fertilizer.

Mr. Banasco also entreat the general public to stop burning the bush, cutting down trees and to also protect the environment.

The fire safety officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Mr. Bakuri Yelinje also in his presentation said that if the communities recognize the importance of climate change safety development activities, tremendous gains can be achieved in climate change risk reduction.

The fire officer also added that a comprehensive awareness and preparedness campaign should be developed and implemented for following safe practice before during and after a climate change disaster.

Mr Bakuri also advocated for a comprehensive exercise program involving five main types of activities that is orientation, seminar, drill, table top exercise or functional exercise and full-scale exercises maybe planned and executed to community levels to help prevent and manage climate change disaster.

Garba Bojitowura Albert Iddisah delivered a speech on behalf of Sawlawura thanked Mr Banasco and his NGO for organizing such a program and also entreated the people of Sawla to try as much as to always protect the environment.

Yiram Kongwura, Sawla Fire Commander, Assambly Members, teachers and students were all present at the program.
