The Communications Director of the Sawla -Tuna- Kalba constituency in the Savannah Region ,Mr Silas Mensah, has urged the government to as a matter of urgency repair the broken down bridge at Kunfusi that links Tuna- Kalba.
He made the call when some members of the NPP constituency communication team made a trip to one of the collapsed bridges on the Tuna-Kalba road.
The same road is also reported to have equally cut off when entering the Kalba community.
The mission of the visit by the NPP constituency communication team was to get first hand information on the situation, give a situational report and demand immediate action from the relevant state actors to put the road back in shape.
Residents of Tuna,Kalba and surrounding communities in the Sawla -Tuna- Kalba District have been cut off following the collapse of the Kunfusi bridge after a heavy downpour in the area on Wednesday May 23.
The incident has left several residents stranded and disrupted movement between communities, with school children among the worst affected.
According to reports from the area, the heavy rains caused flooding that damaged and cut off the Kunfusi Community bridge, making it impossible for residents, commuters, and pupils to cross safely.
The destruction of the bridge has created serious challenges for people who rely on the route for daily activities, including access to schools, farms, markets, and healthcare facilities.
Residents say the situation has caused fear and uncertainty, especially among parents and guardians worried about the safety and welfare of their children during the ongoing rains.
Community members are now appealing to government authorities, the district assembly, and disaster management agencies to urgently intervene and restore access to the affected communities.
