The Savannah Regional leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday inaugurated a Youth Working Committee to spearhead the Party’s agenda of securing massive votes in the Region in the 2024 General Election, at a ceremony in Bole.
The Committee, under the Chairmanship of Hon.Yusif Sulemana, the Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi constituency and Ranking Membership of Tardes and Industry Committee of Parliament , is mandated to coordinate activities of the party’s Youth Wing, as well as all identifiable youth groups to achieve its objectives.
It would also be expected to propagate government policies, development programmes and projects within the vision of the NDC manifesto.
“Building the Ghana we want through the 24 hour economic: The role of the Savannah Regional youth ”, was the theme for the programme.
Its target is the Youth Organizers and their deputies in all the 7 constituencies, as well as a cross section of the party’s leadership.
The Savannah Regional Chairman Alhaji Imoro popularly known as Man Blessing affirmed support of the party’s leadership for activities of the Youth Wing, urging them to work hard to better the chances of the party in next year’s elections.
He said the success of the NDC was dependent on the youth and as such it behooves them to close their ranks and work together to benefit the party.
Chairman Alhaji Imoro said the party’s target of securing 7 out 7 parliamentary seats in the Region was achievable, and, therefore, tasked them to be focused.
The Member of Parliament for North – Tongu constituency in the Volta Region Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa speaking at the event said the 24-hour economic vision policy espoused by the former President, John Dramani Mahama, will turn the fortunes of the country’s economy.
He said the policy will be a resurrection from the ashes of the current unprecedented economic crisis that has caused a disastrous collapse of businesses, an exponential increase in unemployment, extreme poverty and widening inequality and a record low living standards.
“This initiative is one of the silver bullets in the former President’s arsenal which he intends to implement to turn the fortunes of the country around.”
Other high profiled personalities of the party that graced the occasion included the National Youth Organizer of the NDC, the National Youth Wing working committee coordinator, Parliamentary Candidate for Damongo constituency of the NDC, parliamentary Candidate for Salaga-North constituency, the Savannah Regional Women’s Organizer, the Savannah Regional Youth Organizer, the Member of Parliament for Salaga-South constituency among others.
