The Savannah Regional communications Director of the New patriotic party said is hard for him to come in terms with the failure of Ex-president John Mahama to support the people of Savannah Region in the fight against COVID-19.
He disclosed this on Yagbon radio ‘teacup’ to Diwura Fataw on Wednesday, April 1st.
Reacting to a press release by his office Mr. Issah said there are wealthy people in the region including Otiko Afisah Djaba, Ibrahim Mahama, Clifford Braimah, Alfred Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari.
There is however nothing done by these individuals from the Savannah soil since the out break.
Former President Mahama donated items to Ridge hospital only. He should have have donated the item to Ghana health service so that Savannah region can benefit from the donation as Kennedy Agyapong did, Issah reiterated.
Moreover, there are three management centers in Savannah Region including Bole, Damongo and Salaga, So instead of ridge hospital, it should have been any of the three in a poor region like Savannah Region.
Kwame Despite and others are supporting their people and in our case only the MPs are supporting, he said.
He added that people have toiled for former president Mahama to get to where he is. But so disappointing to see him does nothing in Savannah Region.
Reacting to the issues, the Savannah Regional communications officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress said former president Mahama has pledged his support for the fight against Civic-19 not what happened to him during the time of ebola.
He described the statement by NPP in the Region as ethnocentric and political and should not be given attention.
Mr Basintale, said the NDC Mp’s have done donations and do they know how the donations came? But he also agreed partially to other influential people of the region to support.
Mr. Basintale said the resources of the state are in the hands of the president.
He said Government has set aside $100 million dollars to fight the epidemic. All we should talk about is what we should do to get our share of the fund.
The opposition party raised concerns for management centers for our region before government had to heed to our call. That’s the best we can do to help, Basintale asserted.
