
The New Patriotic Party in Northern Ghana, through their respective Regional Secretaries had commended President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo for the appointment of Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor, minister of Lands and Natural resources and MP for Damongo as a caretaker minister in charge of Trades and Industry .
The North is very appreciative of the recognition of such a young, courageous and intelligent brain to assist in the governance of our dear country, a statement issued by the party read.
The posture of Mr. President in the nurturing of younger politicians into government is commendable, the statement indicated.
“And to the Hon. Minister, congratulations for this height chalked. The North is proud of your exploits. Your sterling performance is exemplary. Having diligently manned the Natural Resources Ministry, it is clear you have more than what it takes to do more for the nation”, the statement furthered.
Against all the odds, you “broke protocol” by winning the Damango seat for the NPP for the first time; the lives and livelihoods have been positively affected through you.
Once again, we thank the President for the opportunity to do more for the Nation. May the Almighty God richly bless the President and the country in general, the statement added.
Background.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Samuel Abu Jinapor as the caretaker for the Ministry of Trade and Industry following the resignation of the Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyeremanten.
Samuel Abu Jinapor will assume the caretaker Ministerial role from Monday, 16 January 2023, “pending the approval of a substantive replacement for the outgoing Minister,” a statement from the Presidency signed by its Communications Director, Eugene Arhin, revealed.
President Akufo-Addo had earlier asked Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, to act as caretaker minister at the Ministry of Trade and Industry until a substantive appointment is made,” a letter from the Presidency had earlier indicated.
Mr Kyerematen resigned from the Akufo-Addo government recently.
He tendered his resignation letter to President Akufo-Addo on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
