Former president and Presidential candidate for the NDC in the 2020 general elections, John Mahama has said that the 67% scored by the party from his home Region is as a result of disunity.

The President said this at the palace of His Royal Majesty Tuntumba Boresa the Overload of Gonja kingdom during his thank you tour to the Savannah Region.

The former President stated that in the tradition of Gonja people if a person does a thing for you need to visit the person to thank him though he lost the election but he has to still thank the people of Savannah Region and Ghanaians in general.

To buttressed his reason for the thank you tour, the former president said Ghanaians had moved NDC’s MPs from 106 to 137 with the current speaker Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin from the camp of the NDC.

He called on supporters to stop taking bread, kenkey from opposing parties and stay focus in the development of the party in the Region.

In a welcome address the Yagbon wura described H. E John Dramani Mahama as a hero.

He said for his ability to participate in the fight and lost the fight had added to Strengthening our democracy.

“Allah will guide you in your endeavours, Words of joy and happiness cannot be used to show appreciation for not taking the law into your own hands, these are compliments of a hero” Yagbonwura asserted.

Addressing party supporters the former president said members should stay focus on building the party ahead of 2024 elections.

He said blame games and who deserve what and who does not will not help the development of the party.

He admonished supporters not fall for the little peanut they are given to betray their party as it is the reason for the current situation of the party in the Region.

He described the youth as leaders of today and that if they help the party to win power they will be given jobs to fend for themselves.

Chronicling his achievement, H. E John Mahama said if not for his regime what was the state of the Damongo Catholic Hospital.

He said it took travellers 4hrs from Damongo to Tamale but today less than 2hrs you are in Tamale.

According to him the country’s debt stock of 122b in his regime has balooned to 336b with nothing to show for this borrowing.

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman, vice Presidential candidate to John Mahama during the 2020 elections equally entreated all to seized the blame game if not Ghana will this be this quagmire for a very long time.

She urged the youth to show commitment to the party as 2024 is a year of victory for NDC.
