The chief of Kalba, Kalbawura Amalia Saaka, has appealed to government to fix the area’s deplorable roads to boost economic activities in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region.
According to the Chief, the poor state of their roads makes transportation of goods and services difficult.
The Chief took the opportunity to address the issue when the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey toured some roads in the area on August 19, 2021.
He appealed to the government to assist contract culverts on some economic roads to improve businesses and agricultural activities in the in Kalba area.
The chief mentioned roads including the road linking Wa west (Wechau) District and Kalba and the Saru-Kalba road.
According to the chief politicians only speak about the bad roads when they Want votes but neglect them after elections.
He stated the Wechau road links the Sawla District to upper west and Burkina Faso and the Saru road is connects to Ivory Coast which attracts a lot agricultural and other business activities to the District and the country as a whole.
He urged The District Assembly and for that matter government to consider their plea by constructing culverts on his area’s roads.
The MP told the media that there is a nurse at Saru CHPS compound and can only give primary care in case of emergency how that will one cross these streams and hence urged the media to let the world see the plight of his constituents.
He also added that if government will not consider the residents but should consider border patrol teams and protection of territorial borders to construct the culverts in the area to enhance security.
