The Defence Minister, Hon Dominic Nitiwul, has asked Yagbon wura to give Ghana Arm forces more land space to build a robust defence system in the Savannah Region.
The Minister made the plea when he commissioned 6 of 30 bed rooms for 155 Armour Regimental in Damongo on April 12, 2023.
Before the ceremony, the Minister paid a courtesy call on Yagbonwura Bii Kunito Jewu Soale l where he told Yagbonwura and his chiefs to see themselves as partners in defence intelligence.
Hon. Nitiwul however explained the reason for his visit and asked Yagbonwura to support the Defence Ministry to provide the necessary security for Savannah Region
Yagbonwura Bii Kunuto Jewu Soale l expressed his gratitude to the Minister, his entourage and the President for establishing a military base in the Region.
He called on the security officers to be circumspect with his people as you may know not all your children will be as discipline as may require.
But addressing a short ceremony the Hon. minister express his gratitude to the current officer of Command Col. Aoron Osei for the the beautiful edifices.
He said he is impressed as the base started with hundred men as it stand it can boast of 500 personnels.
He said the target is to build a military battalion and so ask for more land from Yagbonwura.
The officer of Command for the 155 Armour Regiment Lt Col Philomon Adortey Hoffman, said the base was established two years ago to address the current security changing dynamics in the country.
He said on this backdrop the logistics and equipment needed for it function cannot be overemphasized which call for a need to build it in to a fully built camp.
He said the nature of the area seems not appear to be able to establish a camp but with the vision of the CDS it is possible.
The structures were six blocks with five bed rooms each with toilet and bath including six plastic tanks for the quarters to host officers at the Regiment.
