The District Chief Executive for Bole District Hon. Veronica Alele Heming has said government is set to establish a military base in Bole as part of its fair distribution of resources for the newly created Savannah Region.
She disclosed this to Abdul Fatawu on Yagbon Radio “Tea cup” show in reaction by the public to an unexpected visit of a high military hierarchy in a helicopter that landed in the town yesterday.
She told Yagbon Radio that there are two projects by the military in the new Region which includes the training center and a base.
However, Bole was chosen because of the border for the base while Salaga was chosen for the training center.
Hon veronica said when a land was requested by GAF she consulted the Bole Traditional Council and a land on the Mandari road was released for that purpose.
Madam Alele said the visit on Monday was just for preliminary inspection of the land and that a date will be fixed later for a formal inspection and meeting with the Traditional Council on the project.
In 2019, the Government of Ghana carved Savannah Region from Northern Region with a promise of equitable distribution of various regional departments and agencies in all Districts to enhance development.
