The Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Ghana and in collaboration with the Canada’s Feminist lnternational Assistance policy on Tuesday July 14, 2020, empowered women farmer base organization at Chache in the Bole District of the Savannah Region to engage in post production operations.

The Program which was chaired by the Deputy Savannah Regional minister Samuel Yayu Tika at the Savannah Regional coordinating council in Damongo in the Savannah Region encouraged women to work hard on their farms to reduce the high dependence on their husbands.

Samuel Tika added that the support from the Canada’s Feminist is to train and provide financial support to women who are into farming and therefore encourage women from Chache to make good use of the Shea butter processing unit as it has been completed with all the needed machines.

The Savannah Regional Agric Director, Eric Habson Asamani speaking on Yagbon Radio morning show on Thursday July 16, told Abdul Fatawu Diwura, host of the morning show that, the government of Ghana through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture has received a grant from the government of Canada towards the implementation of modernizing Agric in Ghana.

He said this will strengthen the capacity of the farmer-Base organizations to make their products more competitive and market oriented.

Also, a call for a proposal has been signed by the women beneficiaries in the Savannah Region and the district director of Agric for Bole.

Meanwhile a total budget of  500,000.00 Ghana Cedis has been available for the support under the pilot phase.

Eric Habson said a group will be eligible for a maximum of GHC 25,000.00 and a minimum of GHC10,000.00.
Eric Habson added that there about 98 women farmers groups in the Savannah Region but only 9 applied for the sponsorship package with Chache winning this year’s slot.
An amount of GHc 14, 000.00 cedis has been given to the Chache Women farmers base to boost their production in the processing of Shea butter.

With this support, it is going to improve the living conditions of these women in the group, he indicated.

We are encouraging more women farmers base groups to all apply for the package next year when applications are opened, he added.

The women group from Chache women farmer base thanked the Savannah Regional Agric Director and the Bole district Agric Director for their support.
