Residents of Saru in the Sawla -Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region, have described the rehabilitation of their CHPS compound as a major boost to healthcare delivery in the area.

According to the residents, they are encouraged to seek healthcare from the facility, unlike in the past when the facility was in a dilapidated with an unbearable stench from bats excreta.

The residents said this at the commissioning of the facility renovated by HiChale, a Kalba based NGO.

The CHPS compound had its rooms, roofing sheets, painting, changing the normal ceiling to P.O.P among others renovated.

Managing Director of HiChale, Mr Dery Kuusani Emmanuel,  said their mission is to care for those that are suffering and in need of facilities like the clinic.

He said they are dedicated to service and the love for the people.

He said HiChale is a year old but has drilled a good number of boreholes in the communities across the Kalba electoral area including provision of educational facilities and livelihood support programs.

He said having worked with HiChale as the Managing Director for past year and himself as a health personal has come to appreciate the challenges that health facilities in rural Ghana face, hence their support to these communities.

The Managing Director appealed to the District Health Directorate, the District Assembly, any individuals or organisation to support with equipment to make the place complete and standard for a CHPS compound.

The renovated facility will serve 12 communities of 5000 inhabitants.

The District Director for Health Service, Mr Alhassan Abukari, said the renovation means a lot to the Health Service Directorate.

The District Director expressed his joy seeing the new looks of the facility and lamented that the situation of Saru CHPS is as serious as it reflect the situation across the entire District.

He called for support to help in addressing the healthcare infrastructure needs of the Sawla -Tuna-Kalba District as he expressed fears they may not meet the universal health coverage by 2030 as stipulated by the SDGs.
