The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bole-Bamboi constituency in the Savannah Region, Hon. Yusif Sulemana has commended the people for voting massively for him in the December 2020 parliamentary election.
“I accept the responsibility with humility and will like to commend the people of Bole and all the constituents for the confidence they have reposed in me,” he said.
Hon. Yusif who is also the deputy ranking member of Parliament’s Trades and Industry Committee, said in an interview with Yagbon radio on January, 09, 2022, that he remains a humble servant of the constituency.
Hon. Yusif thanked opinion leaders, including Imams and pastors in the constituency for their commitment in maintaining peace during the elections and appealed to them to continue to pray for peace, unity and development.
He assured them of his commitment to develop the area, adding, “I gladly accept the mandate and hope to live up to expectation. I thank all whose efforts have contributed to my unprecedented victory.
Hon. Yusif used the opportunity to account to the constituents the numerous projects and programmes he has undertaken since ascending the parliamentary seat of the area for the second time.
On health, he stated that he procured a tricycle ambulance for the people of Kibilma to be used as means of transporting sick persons to the nearest health facility for medical attention.
He also mentioned that the ultra-modern Bamboi polyclinic is operationalized after he filed a statement on it.
Touching on the education sector, Hon. Yusif revealed that he has paid for the school fees of twenty-seven students in the tertiary sector across the constituency and also provided mathematical sets to all BECE candidates who sat for the 2021 BECE including a stipend to all exams officials at two centres, thus, Bole and Bamboi.
In the area of water, he said the four mechanised boreholes have been for some four communities that were in dire need of water.
In parliamentary business, the MP said he has dragged the Health minister, Roads and Highway minister and the Local Government minister to the the floor of Parliament to question them on the stalled Bole town roads, the status of the Bamboi polyclinic and when Bole District will be elevated to a municipal status.
He added that he has also presented statements in the floor of Parliament such as a statement on bushfires and the increasing nature of cement prices in the country.
Speaking on the controversial E- Levy, the MP expressed concerns that the government’s proposed 1.75 per cent levy on mobile money and other electronic transactions that exceed GH¢100 per a day could affect the country’s drive to promote cashless transactions.
He said many people who would not want to pay the newly proposed levy on mobile money or other forms of electronic transactions would resort to cash payment and that could affect the merchant payment systems.
The MP however reacting to comments made by the Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company, Ign. Dr Clifford Braimah, on the progress of the Damongo town water system, the MP said the NPP government has been inconsistent regarding the execution of the projects.
He quizzed what has delayed the completion of the project since a sod was cut in August 2019.
According to him the NPP government is toying with the people of Damongo with the water project and hence called it a deceit.
He also quizzed the where about of the ten mechanised boreholes which he said the president of the country, Nana Akufo Addo promised to deliver to Damongo to be used as a temporal measure of the water crises in town.
Touching on the Yapei water system, the MP said that the project was completed by the NDC government under former President John Mahama but was abandoned by the NPP and they later did some minor works on it and hence cannot take credit for it.
Hon.Yusif also expressed his gratitude to the chiefs of the constituency for their support and words of advice given to him during his constituency-wide thank you tour.
He assured them of his determination to continue to work hard to improve standard of living of the constituents.
He pledged to the chiefs and queen-mothers that he would collaborate with them to push forward the area in all spheres of development.
