The out gone President of the Vagla Youth Association, Mr Emmanuel Kungi has called on the Government to consider splitting the Sawla- Tuna-Kalba District into two Districts to foster development.
The President said this during the 14th Biannual congress of VAYA in Sawla.
He called on government to split the District as the district is very vast making development very slow for the people of the area.
He made the appeal by proposing Tuna as the District capital for easy supervision and to bring development closer to the people.
Speaking on the Theme “justice peace and freedom for sustainable development in Savannah Region, the role of the youth”, Mr Emmanuel urged the youth to embrace peace adding that the impact of peace in the area and its impact on the development cannot be over emphasized.
He said the assertion that youth are are the future of this country should rather be the youth are the present and future.
He called on the youth to resolve disputes among other ethnic groups to promote peaceful coexistence among various ethnic groups in the region.
He called on the youth avoid indulging themselves on highway robbery by investing their energy into positive activities for development.
Mr Emmanuel again called on government to salvage the education sector in Sawla- Tuna- Kalba District adding that the only vocational school in Sawla is at the verge of collapsing.
The Secretary of the Vaglakora Council, Mr Kipo Ahia on behalf of Vagla koras lament about unemployment among Vagla youth.
He said the situation is as a result of lack of finance to pursue higher education or after higher education they do not get jobs.
He call government to prioritise education in the Sawla and Bole districts adding that these sectors are not doing well especially Bole District has no doctor to handle cases as a result of the declining standard of education the two Districts.
The President of Gonjaland Youth Association Amin Esq in a solidarity message called on the ethnic groups to prioritise their roles in our traditional setting.
He said the theme couldn’t be right at any other time than now adding that peaceful coexistence among the ethnic groups in Gonjaland is Paramount.
He said Gonja comprise of all other groups including Vagla and urged all see it as such.
“On the inclusion of chiefs on the House of Chiefs is a matter of law so I urged you to let us tackle the law first to amend it to include that “, Amin stated.
Other tribal groups also gave their solidarity messages during the event.
