Hon.Andrew Dari Chiwitey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sawla- Tuna-Kalba Constituency, has donated items to the inmates of the Nakwabi Children’s Home, as part of celebrating this year’s Christmas.
The items include bags of rice, toilet rolls, biscuits, washing powder, diapers, canned fish and cartons of soft drinks among others.
Speaking, after presentation, Hon. Andrew asked the people in higher positions and well-to-do to donate to motherless and fatherless in the society for their up-keep.
He said the inmates through no faults of theirs have become orphans and have found themselves in the orphanage home.
They therefore need the support of the society to live, he said.
Hon.Andrew urged the orphans not be disturbed and discouraged with their situation, but should strive hard to succeed in life.
Rev. Sister Jane Mary, who received the items thanked the constituency lawmaker for her kind gesture and prayed to God to reward him abundantly.
She said the items would go a long way to help the orphanage address some of the teething challenges confronting it.
She pleaded with other benevolent individuals, institutions and corporate bodies to follow the footsteps of Hon. Andrew Chiwitey.
According to her, the running of the home has become difficult due to inadequate resources and appealed for more support to ensure that the Home is able to adequately provide for the children.
“We need more support to help us take care of the children in terms of feeding, and schooling.
The home is often challenged in this regard, so we require help” she noted.
