On Saturday November 2, 2024, the club members of Rotary International embarked on a commissioning of projects at Bole in the Savannah Region of Ghana.

The said projects were in two folds, one at the Bole Senior High school, and the other at Kurabaso Primary School.

A welcome address was given to all members present by Nkilgiwurche Queen Boresah and Mr.Jonathan Kwofie, after which there was a cultural display from the students present.

Speaking to all members present, Madam Alfreda Eghan(Afisah Yahaya), an international sponsor from the Rotary Club of San Jose(USA), officially welcomed everyone to the programme right before her speech.

According to Madam Alfreda Eghan, the idea of the project came after a campus tour at the Bole Senior High School and as well as Kurabaso primary school 3 years ago.“When I was here in March this year, I promised to champion the formation of a Rotary Club for Savannah.

I am excited to announce the formation of this new club, the name is Rotary E-Club Savannah, Ghana, with 29 prospective members. We recently submitted our application to Rotary International to become chattered members and we look forward to joining the other clubs in Ghana in our mission to develop our communities”, she added.

The project highlights included:32 Bio-digester toilet seats for girls at Bosec, 32 stall washrooms for girls at Bosec, rewiring of two classroom blocks at Bosec, mechanization of four existing boreholes at Bosec, replacement of four leaking water tanks and holding structures at Bosec, renovation of primary one to three classroom block at Kurabaso, 180 new tables and chairs for students, 4 bio-digester toilets and urinals, staff common room and one borehole for water supply.

Madam Alfreda Eghan expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone, most especially Mr.Jonathan Kwofie and Mr.Habib Issah, who took part in the project and made it a dream-come-true.

She conclusively urged all and sundry to work hard for the betterment of Bole.

Mr. Zakarea Balure Al Hassan, president of the Rotary Club of the Upper West Region, highlighted the importance of the members of the club as they all worked tirelessly towards achieving their goal as a team.

He further explained how beneficial the project will be to the said beneficiaries since certain unhealthy activities such as open defecation will be curbed, and as well, offer dignity and sanity to the students.

He promised to undertake an eye screening exercise for the students as a professional ophthalmologist.

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all Rotarians, the head teachers of both Bole Senior High School and Kurabaso primary school and all members present.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to serve as watchdogs to the facilities and also
undertake maintenance culture.

The head teachers of both schools expressed their gratitude to the Rotary Club for embarking on a worth-acknowledging projects.

Citations were given to the most deserving personalities.
