
The District Chief Executive for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Hon. Sinkina Saaka, has on 31 July 2026 commissioned a Community Health Planning Service (CHPS) facility at Soma, a community in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District to enhance access to quality healthcare services for residents.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Sinkina Saaka reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to bringing quality healthcare to the doorstep of the people. He noted that the establishment of the facility forms part of broader efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and improve health outcomes, particularly in rural communities.
The DCE emphasized that access to healthcare remains a key priority of the government, adding that the new CHPS compound will significantly reduce the burden on residents who previously had to travel long distances to access basic medical services.
He again added that the project started in the first administration of President John Dramani Mahama in 2016 where the project was put to a halt due to the change of government, but because this government places health of its citizens at heart, the project has been completed, commissioned and ready for use.
Hon Sinkina also made a personal pledged to support 30 bags of cement for the construction of a fence wall for the facility In the community.

The newly commissioned CHPS Compound has the following facilities, two staff accommodation units, laboratory, Outpatient department (OPD) , delivery rooms for the health facility and some Medicinal equipment which includes delivery beds, blood bank refrigerators and more.
The Assembly member for Soma electoral area Hon. Kipo Yawazum Moses stated that the facility would significantly improve access to quality healthcare, reduce the distance residents travel for medical attention.
Hon. Kipo Yawazum, also promised that the facility will be put in a good use and also properly maintained it well.
