The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo had visited the Savannah Region to express his gratitude to the chiefs and people the Region.

The visit forms part of his nationwide thank you tour to the people of Ghana as he had served for two terms and the support given to him during his stewardship.

In a welcome address by Yagbonwura Bii Kunuto Jewu Soale I welcome the President with delight .

On behalf of Yagbonwura Bii Kunuto, Yapeiwura TBT Zakaria said Yagbonwura expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the president for creating Savannah Region.

Adding that it couples with education, health, roads among other very strategic and important infrastructure development.

He pleaded with the President to consider resolving some challenges including the splitting of central Gonja District.

The King pleaded with the president to turn his attention to the Savannah Region with potential and various forms of socio-economic development.

Yagbonwura called on the President to absorb the Daboya Savannah College of Education into a public institution .

Yagbonwura said Gonjaland has rich cultural heritage with peace loving people adding that his transition is an evidence of good cultural heritage.

Yagbonwura expressed his disappointment over recent development where a paramount chief celebrated the Damba festival before him with backing from his appointees.

This development Yagbonwura described as a disrespect to traditions and customs of the Gonja people calling for resolution of the matter for others not to emulate that actions.

The King called on the President to support his educational fund for human resource development of the Gonja and the Savannah.

The King said politics is supposed to be constructive and that former President John Dramani Mahama and vice president Dr Mahamud Bawumia as brothers.

Yogbonwura Bii Kunuto said he will not spare anyone who try to destabilize the peace of the Region.

Introducing the President, the MP for Damongo Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor expressed his gratitude to the king for organizing the citizens of the region to give the president such a euphoric welcome.

He said the people of Savannah Region asked for a region for a long time but today he is the creator of this region adding that the achievements is unmatched in the Region.

Nana Addo said he is grateful to the Gonja stool for your support during his stewardships .

Nana Addo said upon assumption of office he received a petition from Gonja Kingdom asking for a Region and with the support of the late king Borresa I, today I created Savannah Region.

He mentioned among Dagbon on crises where the Yagbonwura, Otumfuo and Nayiri supported to bring finality to the case.

The President said under Free
Senior High School, over five million children benefited for which over one million are under studies on this policy.

A double of that when he took over in 2017 and are the best student globally in the field of science and engineering.

Aside Free SHS, there is massive infrastructure within the basic and secondary levels including the TVET in Salaga.

He mention more road infrastructure including asphalt overlays in Damongo,Fufulso Bonjia Road,Busunu Daboya Mankargu, Tamale-Sala ga-Makango road among other feeder roads.

He said under the health sector, he completed Buipe and Sawla hospitals and is currently on Kpalbe and Daboya District hospitals at various stages of completion.

Nana Addo said he stood at Jakpa palace as a brother from afar that can do what your kingsman cannot do .

Nana Addo said John Mahama has criticized him on some policies including Free Senior High School for which he said if he had 2billion he will do something with it than Free SHS ,today he is talking about review, another time he taking about enhancement.

He also went to mining communities to campaign against me so we lost in those constituencies and today he is talking about fighting galamsey when he wins power.

In my view John Mahama is not firm and is not the right person to lead this country and Bawumia should be allowed to rule this country .

He however call on the people of Savannah Region to support Bawumia to lead the country.
