Vice President of the Republic of Ghana Dr Mahamud Bawumia said there is brotherly bond between Gonjas and the Manprusi tribe and nothing can be done to breach such long lasting bond.
The Vice President stated this during the 45th National Congress of the Gonjaland Youth Association held in Bole on Saturday, April 3, 2021.
The Vice President stressed that he sees himself as a son of the land of Savannah Region and will always avail himself when ever the Region needs his services.
He said the GLYA has played key roles in the development of the Region notable among them is the resolutions of chieftaincy disputes in the Region.
Touching on development of the under the first term of the Nana Addo led government, he said the Region had benefited from 631 projects with 165 ongoing.
The veep also said Buipe and Yapei bridges will be reconstructed under the Nana Addo led Government and that all is set for the construction of the Daboya bridge to boost agric activities among inter Region’s.
He however lamented the degradation of natural resources and said there is the need to conserve these resources to witness development of the area.
In a speech by Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor the Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency and Minister for Lands and Natural resources said he will do his best to curb logging and commercial charcoal burning in the Region.
But said he can only succeed if Chiefs in the Region gives him the maximum support and cooperation.
Speaking on behalf the Savannah Regional parliamentary caucus the Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi Hon. Yusif Sulemana said the caucus is a united one and will do what ever possible to attract development to the Region.
He said the MP’s will want to bring the attention of Government on some four important issues including commercial charcoal burning and wood logging, tourism in the Region, regulation of small scale mining and insecurity.
The congress was on the theme “Beyond election 2020 uniting Gonjaland for equal social-economic development”.
