The Gonjaland Youth Association has held its 45th Annual Congress in Bole on Saturday, April 3, 2021, under the theme “Beyond election 2020 uniting Gonjaland for rapid Social-economic Development”.
The GLYA was formed some 46 years ago with the aim bringing the youth of Gonjaland together as one force to attract development in devise ways for the Gonja Kingdom.
Addressing Chiefs and people of Savannah Region at the Congress, President of GLYA Mr. Mohammed Amin urged the youth not hide behind social media to disrespect but channel their energy into developing the Region.
He said the association has been able to run a number of activities since his team took over including organization of a seminar for chiefs in the Region, visit to remote traditional areas of Gonjaland in others Regions, review of the association constitution.
He also said a land dispute committee has be constituted which has submitted its report to Gonja Traditional Council for consideration and added that guidelines for environmental degradation and fulani herdsmen has been mapped out by the association.
They have also started a community base farming model and Kegbandewura has allocated 1000acres for the project, he said.
In an appeal, President lawyer Amin appeay to the Government to build a teacher training college in the Region, create five more Districts in the Savannah Region and also appealed to Government to convert Damongo Agric college to an Agric University.
In a welcome of address on behalf of Bolewura kutugefeso l, Tunawura Isaac Dramani describes the congress as extra ordinary and assured all gathered that Bole is united than ever and poised to under developmental initiatives.
He appealed to government to upgrade Bole to a Municipal status, establish a teacher training college in Bole and also support Bolewura’s Educational Fund to improve upon education in the area.
The congress was attend by top chiefs and government official including Buipewura and Chiefs from other paramouncies of Gonjaland, Vice president of the republic of Ghana, Ministers of state, Members of Parliament, MMDCES among others.
