The residents of Daboya are calling on the government to fulfill its promise to construct a bridge over the White Volta at Daboya in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
The appeal comes after the date given by the government for the commencement of the bridge project expired.
Government as part of it’s campaign promises assured residents of Daboya a town in the Savannah region,that it will construct a bridge over the white Volta which in turn will enable people of the community move from one place to the other.
Again the vice president Dr. Mahamadu Buwumia earlier this year reiterated the promise as he spoke the Annual Gonjaland Youth Association Congress held in Bole said the construction will Begin June/July of 2021.
Hon Fuseinu Issahakuf Assembly Man for Daboya west Said, this mode of crossing the river has been so for more than a century despite this route being shorter compared to passing through Busunu in the West Gonja Municipality, it is often risky for the travelers who spend about thirty minutes in boats on the lake.
Speaking to Karim Fatawu a traveler believes the get hitch to travel to the area is having a bad influence on businesses as well as education in the District.
Mr Seidu Nurudeen a resident aggrieved said, foundations for the project were manually constructed by indigenes yet no work is currently ongoing.

a sub chief of the Wasipe Traditional Area, narrated the ordeal of the people and appealed for government to honor it’s promise.
