A bridge on the Baabile-Nadowli road of the Upper West Region has collapsed after heavy rains Friday morning putting the lives of road users at risk.
An eyewitness, Zuuri Albert Abdulai, narrating to Yagbon News said the collapsed bridge which is closed to a valley divides Baabile, Lawra, Nandom and Nadowli and has been completely washed away cutting access to these communities.
According to him, the disaster has led to a vehicular and human traffic, disrupting the economic and social life activities of travellers.
Many drivers and motorists plying that stretch therefore became stranded as they could not move to either side of the road.
A car which was traveling from Kumasi had to make a return to avoid been washed away by the flood waters as a result of the collapsed bridge, Zuuri told Yagbon News.
“Am quite surprised how it happened, because no one expects that such a small valley could caused such havoc on the road”, he indicated.
Mr Azuuri said that the collapsed bridge is having a heavy toll on commuters and called for an immediate action to be taken to put back the road on a good shape.
