Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District To Benefit From E-WASH Project.

The Sawla-Tuna- Kalba District, located in the Savannah Region of Ghana is to benefit from an E-WASH project under which toilet facilities, water systems and hygiene education will be provided.

Funded by USAID, Global Communities is the lead of eleven consortium under the project.

E-Wash which is an improved version of Wash for Health is aimed at facilitating access to and use of sustainable water , sanitation and hygiene services and product in targeted Districts of Northern Ghana with the objective of bringing Government of Ghana, other actors, citizens and private sector service providers in the effective management of water and sanitation in the wash sector.

This was made known at a workshop held for stakeholders in the Sawla- Tuna- Kalba District on September 20, 2022.

The workshop brought together District Assembly members, media, community members, chiefs environmental officers health among others.

The project will captured all five regions of the North in 30 Districts but in the Savannah region Bole, Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Domongo Municipal and North- Gonja Districts are to benefit from the project.

Martin sumbo, Behavior Change specialist told the media that the project is an improvement of the wash for health project.

He said the project is between 2021 and 2026 which is going to be implemented at the stakeholders level.

According Mr Martin they are using behavior integration approach to give the citizens what what they want.

He also said service providers, District Assemblies, chiefs among other stakeholders will be driving the project to ensure sustainability in the water and sanitation sector.

He he said before the introduction of E-Wash, Wash for health had provided Tuna, Kalba and Mandari water systems and among other success chalked through the project.
