Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa West constituency has advised supporters of political parties, particularly those from his constituency not to allow partisan politics to divide their ranks to bring disunity and acrimony, which slows down development.

He observed that there was always divisive tendencies among some neighbourhoods because of the partisan politics, which must be reversed.

He called on the people to unite and together seek and plan the development agenda for constituency saying “Politics is only a means of  bring development  and not breaking barriers between brothers.”

Hon. Lanchene made the call when he held his annual New Year Party event at Poyentanga which was massively attended by chiefs and hundreds of his constituents.

He called on his constituents to unite and develop the area instead of fighting on party lines.

The MP stressed the need to avoid excessive and unhealthy partisanship which he said retrogressed developmental efforts.

According to him unity and mutual understanding among key stakeholders such as traditional authorities, political parties, youth groups, religious leaders and others, was crucial to garnering the needed support to promote development in education, health, road infrastructure and others.

He appealed for peace in the District, saying that conflict was an enemy of development and stressed the need for chiefs and opinion leaders in the place to constantly embrace peace for the development of the area.

Free medical health screening, cultural display and a drama on teenage pregnancy were some of the activities that were carried out during the event under the auspices of the MP.
