The Executive Committee of the Savannah Football Tournament have received support from the Member of Parliament for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency, Honourable Andrew Dari Chiwitey.
The gesture is intended to boost the confidence of teams participating in this year’s Savannah Football Tournament currently been held at Kalba.
The Member of Parliament (MP) presented some sports items, 20 bags of rice and a cash amount of 2,000.00 Ghana cedis in support of the Savannah Football Tournament.
The MP speaking at the launch of the tournament at Kalba on Monday January, 03, 2022, reaffirmed his commitment to sports development because it had a positive influence on youth social activities since many youth are gifted with football skills in the area.
The donation according to the MP, is in a way to support, encourage and also boost their morale for them to excel in the competition ahead of them.
He advised the youth in his constituency to reawaken their interest and commitment towards sporting activities, especially football.
The MP indicated that sports had huge economic prospects that could transform the lives of the people and enhance the socio-economic livelihoods of the local communities.
Hon. Andrew explained that the youth in the area were endowed with talents particularly in the area of football, and added that the tournament would help expose the raw talents to potential organizations, and individuals who could support them to fully realize them.
“Sports have undeniably become a great avenue of economic prospects for young talented people in Ghana and worldwide”, said the MP.
” I want to let you know that my own son is participating in this year’s tournament, that shows the level of seriousness that I attached to this tournament in a bid to discover untapped talents within the area”, the MP indicated.
The MP also urged all the paticipating teams to ensure a violent -free tournament and promise to donate sporting kits to the team that will win the tournament.
The Savannah Football tournament is currently held at Kalba with 32 teams participating in the competition.
