Hon. Mahama Asei Seini, Member of Parliament for Daboya- Mankarigu constituency and Deputy Health Minister says contractor working on the Busunu- Daboya road have resumed construction works.

Hon. Mahama told newsmen that the contractor identified as Mr Peter Mahama moved to the site on September 15, 2021, after a portion of the stretch got flooded denying commuters from accessing other parts of the North- Gonja District.

He said, “when the road got flooded,I quickly placed a call on the contractor and he told me that he has moved back to the site.”

“I further directed my DCE to found out whether the contractor had indeed returned to the site to work on the road which he found out to be true and am here today to see for myself the extent of damage caused by the flood, the MP told journalists.

He added that the contractor had indeed dispatched his equipment to the site and assured commuters that the road will be temporally fix in the few days ahead to allow access to other parts of the District.

According to him as leader, you don’t only lament about a bad situation but also finds solution to the situation.

He added that there is the need for the entire road to be redisigned to avert future disasters.

The DCE for the area, Hon. Eliasu Red Bawa who was in the company with the MP lauded the constituency lawmaker for the immediate steps he took in ensuring that the road is fix to allow the movement of vehicles as well as goods and services.

He also appealed to residents to give their maximum support to them for the progress of the work and its subsequent completion.

Residents have been worried over the poor nature of the road, which is in a deplorable state subsequently leading to parts of it flooding.

The road from Busunu to Daboya got cut off by floodwaters after a heavy downpour on Saturday, September 11, 2021, bringing movement of vehicles and humans to a halt between the two communities.

The road is the only route from the capital of the North Gonja District to other parts of the country like Tamale, Buipe, and Kumasi.
