The police in the Bole District in the Savannah Region have mounted a search for a mother who dumped her one- day old baby girl at a section of Banda Nkwanta called “rubber estate” shortly after delivery.

The runaway mother is said to have abandoned the new born baby with the intention of killing it.

However, a “good Samaritan” heard its cries and drew people’s attention to it.

The timely intervention of the passerby and other members of the community saved the child from dying.

A reliable source who confirmed the the story to Yagbon News said the baby is being cared for at the Bole District Hospital.

“It all happened on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, when the unknown person delivered and abandoned the baby at rubber estate a galamsay site in the Banda Nkwanta Community and fortunately residents heard of that baby’s cry and reported the incidence to the Chief of the community who directed that, the baby be sent to the health centre for medical attention and it was there that the health workers transferred the baby to the Bole District Hospital for further medical attention”, the source told Yagbon News.

“All efforts to find the culprit so far proved futile”, the source explained.

The source added that the case has been reported to the police who have already launch investigations into the matter.

The Bole District Department of the Social Welfare have also been informed who have since taken control over the baby as the health of the baby is stilll in good condition been managed at the Bole District Hospital .

In July 21, 2020, a similar incidence of baby dumping occurred at Mempeasem, a suburb in Bole town where a newly born baby was abandoned in a public toilet and was saved by the residents of the area.
