Deputy Agric. Minister Hon. Dr. Sagre Bambangi has commissioned a warehouse in Bole under Government’s One District One Warehouse Policy.
In October 2017, President Akufo-Addo cut sod for the construction of warehouses in every district across the country.
The purpose of these warehouses is to store produce, as well as provide storage for the anticipated surpluses under the “Planting for Food and Jobs”.
On Thursday 19th November, 2020 the Deputy minister of agric Hon. Dr. Sagre Bambangi handed the warehouse to the people of Bole under the ” 1 District 1 wharehouse Initiative to add value to agricultural produce in the Bole District.
Addressing the people during the commissioning, Hon. Bambangi said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has delivered one of his campaign promises of building warehouses in every District.
He added that it is much important to hand over the Warehouse to the DCE for usage during this harvest season to reduce t post harvest losses.
The DCE for Bole District Hon. Madam Veronica Alele Heming, addressing the people during the handing over said, the construction of the warehouse in the district will not only minimise post-harvest loses, but will improve the marketing value of agriculture produce.
“The warehouse will help address poor farm-level practices, poor handling, and poor storage activities that exposes our farm produce to moulds, rodents and other pests ” she stated.
Adding that farmers will be able to store their farm produces in the warehouse and use them to address their financial needs in various ways under the Warehouse receipt System.
The construction of the Warehouse started on 2nd August 2018 and completed December 2019.
The Warehouse is 1,000 tonnes capacity that is averagely 10,000 bags of grains capacity. It is composed of two offices, mechanized borehole changing room, kitchen, store, seed cleaners, solar dryers and weighing scales.
The opening of the warehouse help farmers will help farmers to reduce Post harvest losses and help address the challenges of price volatility, she noted.
