The communications Bureau of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bole-Bamboi constituency, says reports suggesting members of the party have defected to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are untrue, total falsehood and as such the public should disregard such reports.
The communication officer, Mr. Bashiru Amantana stated this on Yagbon Radio on an NDC program hosted by Alhassan Abdul Razack on November 20, 2020.
He said those young men has never been members of the NDC in Bole- Bamboi constituency.
On Friday 20th November 2020, some over 50 members of the NDC who formally called themselves Link Town Crew but renamed Akati Youth ditched their party (NDC) to the ruling New Patriotic Party.
This development took place in Bole when the NPP National Youth Organizer Henry Nana Boakye alias Nana B visited Bole as part of his campaign tour of the Savannah Region ahead of December 7 elections.
The Youth group claimed they campaigned for the NDC and the then parliamentary candidate, Hon. Yusif who won the elections but has since neglected them.
They also stated that, their action is motivated by the massive development by the NPP government in constituency and Ghana at large.
But reacting to reports of the group defection, Mr Amantana, said group member ever came to the then Youth Organizer of the NDC requesting for party cards but were assured of their request depending on their commitment which they failed and not given the cards.
“This shows that NDC is not as cheap as you see it,” he stated.
We all know who campaigned in 2016 for NDC in Bole- Bamboi, we also know all youth groups in the party in 2016 of which the said defected group wasn’t part, Mr Bashiru told host Abdul Razack.
“Our youth Organizer confirmed to me that there was not any group like that in 2016, So may be this is one of their tactics to get something for the Boys”, he indicated.
He also said the Savannah Regional of the executives of the NPP are using this to deceive Nana B that they are working.
He reiterated that the defectees are not members of the NDC and urged the public to totally disregard such publications.
