Two Districts in Savannah Region are badly hit as a result of spillage of the Bagreb dam at Burkina Faso.

The Districts include Central Gonja and North Gonja District.

In a statement by the Savannah Regional Director for National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr Mohammed Tohir indicate that 16 communities in North Gonja were affected while 18 communities in Central Gonja also suffered from the natural disaster.

The statement also indicated that 500 acres of land in Central Gonja has been destroyed while 2,170 acres of farm lands are submerged in the North Gonja District with 1,254 persons affected .

Speaking on Yagbon radio tea cup, the Savannah Regional Director for NADMO Mr. Mohammed Tohir confirmed the data on the ground and said that the situation in North Gonja is better now but same cannot be said of Central Gonja.

Meanwhile the National Deputy Director in-charge of operations Mr. Abu Ramadan has since visited the bereaved family of the female child that died as a result of the flood.

Mr. Ramadan assured affected victims that after the completion of the Pwalugu dam floods will be a thing of the past in the area.

Every year Central and North Gonja Districts along the white Volta are always hit by the Bagre dam spillage but this year is an exception, Mr Ramadan lamented.
