The Bole office of the of NHIS has organized a one day sensitization program to educate stakeholders on the free primary health call initiative by the government on Tuesday 26 May 2026.

Gracing the program were representive from the regional NHIS office, representatives from the Bolewura’s place ,the Bole chief imam palace,Ghana Health services(Bole and various chip compounds) and assembly members from nearby communities.

The manager for NHIS office Bole, Mr. Gonsob Sansa , in his speech stated that basic purpose of this program is to engage stakeholders on health care delivery in the district, emphasizing that many people might not be aware that the free primary health care policy has been launched so there is the need to educate the general public to aid good health when it’s is fully implemented .

This policy as he said will help assess bases of your health without fear and panicinsisting that it is the reason for making free registration and renewal of NHIS cards from 15th of April to the 31st of May 2026.

Still in his address, he touched on some few challenges since he resume office last year, he touched on the damage of the office vehicle which they use for mobilization, the local network for registration and renewal of cards is also down although they do call for maintenance and it’s even down as usual and would definitely need maintenance.

However, the manager applaud the Mp for Bole-Bamboi who doubles as the deputy minister for land and natural resources for adding his staff to boost productivity and also for giving them a new NHIS office in which is 90 percent done.

Also addressing the program was Mr Iddirisu Adams principal manager from NHIA regional office representing the regional director,Savannah Region, who also mentioned the purpose of the program n said the first phase of the free primary health care is yet to be implemented hence they are embarking on series of activities to sensitize health workers and the public in general.

He said “Ghanaian will go to a health facility to be attended to without paying any money,it is called primary because is done just the primary level hence it’s available at the chips compound, health centers, poly clinic”.

The Free primary health care in general is actually to prevent disease right from the basic level .

Again Mr. Iddirisu Adams affirm that NHIA is set to introduce One Time Attends Code(OTAC) hence the need for everyone to update his personal mobile number with his or her NHIS cards ,although it’s still under implementation stage but one can visit NHIA office to be done.

Few health asked questions and shared their needs, views in relation to NHIS.

In conclusion the Free primary health care policy (FPHC) and the One Time Attends Code (OTAC) will help in quality health delivery services.
