The DCE for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Hon. Sinkina Saaka has on Friday 27 ,February 2026 commissioned two SOCO Projects in Yipala community of the Savannah region

The projects include a market structure and a 3 – unit classroom block.

Hon. Sinkina Saaka speaking at the event, stated that market in everywhere promote economic activities for the people and if today we commissioning a market for the people of Yipala it means they are going to enhance economic activities in the community.

Hon. Saaka added that the market will promote the local economy that will generate income for the community members and if it continues the district assembly will equally benefit in revenue generation.

The DCE urged the community members to utilize the facility fully and so they will be disappointed if this facility is allowed to stand here without being utilized.

“So from today onwards we expect the market will start operating and businesses will continue from here and if this happens revenue will be generated and this revenue would be used again to do something in the district ”

On that same day, Hon Sinkina Saaka handed over a 3 unit classroom block in Yipala for the the GES to aid teaching and learning.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Hon. Sinkina Saaka noted that the 3 unit classroom block is part of a number of projects which were being undertaken in the 2016 academic year and was abandoned by the previous administration.

The DCE added that upon assumption of office as the DCE for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district, he took keen interest in the project and fortunately this project became the first project that he completed successfully.

Unfortunately as a result of the conflict he couldn’t hand over the project over and today by the grace of God he is happy to hand over his first project to the community for usage, and going round the district he can see a number of educational infrastructures that are deteriorating very fast and most of them due to the lack of maintenance culture.

“I am urging the Yipala community especially the PTA to take key interest in maintaining this facility”

The Sawla DCE used the opportunity to thank the contractor for a good work done.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Assembly member for Yipala electoral area Hon. Kulah Raphael thanked the DCE for fulfilling his promises in completing abandoned projects in the district.

The Assembly member, noted that the market will improve their economic activities and the 3 unit classroom block will also aid in teaching and learning activities in the community.

“We are very grateful for your support and commitment to our community development”.

Hon Kulah Raphael appeals to the DCE to extend electricity to the market facility, street lights to be mounted at vantage points in the market to boost visibility and also empoly zoom lion workers to help in maintaining the market in the community.

The chief of Yipala, thanked the DCE and the government for putting up such two projects in his community and promise to put them in a good use.
