The Bole Municipal Health Directorate has on Thursday 20th February, 2025, held an annual performance review for the year 2024 in Bole the Municipality of the Savannah region.
Addressing participants at the 2024 Annual Performance review the Municipal Director of Health Services Hajia Fuseina Sulemana welcome all stakeholders and said the meeting affords the Directorate the opportunity to interact with major stakeholders for quality health delivery.
“Some achievements of the Directorate are, the hospital attained a level 4 status of safecare standard, renovation of section of the hospital that is Laboratory, Pharmacy, Dental unit, Eye unit, Emergency unit, OPD, Administration and the renovation of three staff quarters” she said
The Health Director indicated that in 2024 an out patient visit increased from 33,481 to 40,854.
She also Noted that Malaria cases dropped from 348.18 IN 2023 to 295.43 in 2024, indicating progress in malaria prevention and elimination control efforts.
Stillbirth rates declined from 7.78 per 1000 births in 2023 to 6.23 in 2024, reflecting improvements in antenatal care and skilled delivery.
Hajia Fuseina Sulemana mentioned that the District recorded several cases of suspected and confirmed communicable diseases, 25 suspected cases of Measles, 15 confirmed and 1death.
Meningitis 10 suspected cases, 2 confirmed and 1 death, and also Yellow Fever, 4 suspected cases, but none confirmed
Increased Anemia at 36 weeks of pregnancy from 28.35% in 2023 to 46.88% in 2024 indicating the need for enhanced nutritional interventions and Antenatal care.
Decline in Antenatal care (ANC) visit from 59.45% IN 2023 to 54.35% in 2024.
The Municipal Health Director mentioned some challenges facing the health Directorate, which she mentioned lack of standby generator to power the hospital, lack of Mortuary to preserve bodies, lack of accommodations for in-coming staff, Inadequate number of technical staff and high staff attrition.
