Islamic religious activities will be significantly elevated in Bole, as an Islamic centre is set to introduce doctoral programmes in Islamic studies as part of the many ways of honouring Islam as a religion.
In an attempt to give a comprehensible idea of the whole initiative, Sheikh Harun Kamagtey, one of the renowned members of the Islamic centre, vividly outlined the visions and as well as the missions of the centre.
The visions of the Islamic centre included propagation to Allah, purifying and educating people, and guiding people to do what brings happiness on earth and the hereafter.
A good number of their missions on the other hand included promotion of virtue, spreading Islamic culture among people, purifying souls and nurturing them with virtuous values and good morals, building and preserving a righteous society and many more.
Just like how we have arms of government in Ghana, the said organization according to Sheikh Harun Kamagtey, is made up of three main sections.
The very first section is responsible for all activities such as propagating true words, behaviours, and actions in mosques, surrounding cities, on radio stations, in private and public gatherings, and as well as religious and other social occasions.
The second section is responsible for all educational activities such as teaching the Qur’an and its sciences, teaching languages, introducing scientific, cultural, and awareness courses, raising the standards of religious schools, preparing lessons and as well as organizing extra classes for the matured ones.
The third and final section of the Islamic centre is also responsible for resolving disputes and helping people reconcile, educating families and shaping children upbringing, serving as a medium for consultation, raising awareness about respecting public order, and as well as calling on and encouraging people to help and support one another one way or the other in order to eradicate poverty in the society.
Sheikh Harun Kamagtey highlighted how important the initiative is, with the reason being that, we do not have to only consider worldly things but also should be very mindful of the hereafter.
He conclusively acknowledged the good works of the media. However, he frowned upon some of the activities of the media such as programmes involving music, and highlighted the need to offer educative sessions to the media so as to keep them informed as to what is religiously accepted in Islam and the vice versa .
