A cross-section of residents in the Sonyo area of the Bole District in the Savannah Region have threatened not to vote again in the December General Elections if their deplorable road network is not fixed.
Residents in the area have been appealing to successive Governments to rehabilitate their deplorable road network for them but these appeals have not yielded any positive results.
The angry residents said this when a Kia truck loaded with cassava from a farm in Sonyo heading towards Kumasi got sank in the middle of the road for almost 7 hours.
Kipo Akwasi, a resident said they will invoke curses on any politician who steps foot in Sonyo to campaign if the road is not fixed.
Kipo said, this is not the first time vehicles and motor bike get sank on the road which is just one hour drive to Bole, he said in case of emergency no fire service or ambulance will travel from Bole to Sonyo in time therefore pregnant women lost their lives on their way to Bole hospital.
A section of youth at Sonyo and Kiape said they have been filling the road with shovel and head pands especially on Bole market days.
They said they are farmers but they don’t get buyers to buy the raw food stuffs from their farms due to bad road network.
Kwaku Francis, another frustrated resident said every elections year politicians do promise them of constructing the road but after elections they don’t talk about it.
They appealed to Government to work on it or else there will be no vote in Sonyo and Kiape in the upcoming 2020 elections.
