Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency in the Savannah Region has donated cash to three communities in his constituency to support them undertake various community-initiated projects.
Hon. Andrew, commended the people of the three communities for taking upon themselves to initiate development projects to uplift the image of their communities.
He, therefore, urged other communities to emulate such a spirit to bring development to their people rather than waiting for government to provide all their needs.
According to the MP, the initiative aims not only to encourage the community’s members to develop but also to improve their living conditions.
The projects are a labour ward and staff accomadation at Sanyeri, a CHPs compound at Danyuoorteng and also a CHPscompound at Kporbaarteng .
Each beneficiary community received Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis to support their self- initiated projects.
The MP hoped that once these projects were completed, they would help improve their lives in their respective communities.
“Of course, their involvement with what they can do has and will continue to build us all up. Because of the amount of money or resources that could have been used to pay people to come and do certain things, such resources have now been used to further improve the projects we are undertaking in these communities.
Aside from that, the idea also helps in bringing unity and ownership among them, as with their involvement, maintenance culture will be key”.
According to the MP, health plays a critical role in the growth of every society, hence, the need to support projects meant to enhance health in the communities.
“I will continue to spread and support development projects across the length and breadth of the constituency irrespective of the location,” he added.
The Sawla- Tuna-Kalba District Health Director, Mr Abukari Alhassan , thanked the MP for using his meager resources to assist his constituents and said the donation would motivate them to work harder to complete the project on schedule.
