The Communication’s Bureau of the Savannah Regional NDC has reacted on Monday July 20, saying it has observed with amusement attempts by the New Patriotic Party attempting to equalize their embarrassment act few days ago where members of their party recruited into the Electoral Commission were caught with a stolen machine registering NPP persons at their party branch chairman’s house in the Tamale South Constituency.
The NPP in the Savannah Region earlier on today by a press statement alleged that two NDC vigilantes were arrested with guns and ammunitions at Damongo.
“Three buses full of Ivorians and some foreign nationals who reside in some galamsay areas in the Bole District were accosted and arrested at a registration centre in Damongo”, the statement from the NPP added.
The NPP alleged that the buses were accompanied by about 15 gun wielding vigilante persons belonging to the NDC in the region who are known guys in Bole for causing mayhem.
“Upon an alert from the hardworking Damongo constituency executives of the NPP, the police and military quickly moved in to arrest the NDC vigilante group”, the NPP press statement indicated.
The NPP press statement added that four guns loaded fully, with another set of bullets for reloading and a couple of machete’s and other ammunitions were recorded from the scene with two of them been arrested and currently at the police station after their colleagues escaped.
But in a quick reaction to the allegations raised by NPP in the region, the Savannah Region NDC has issued a rejoinder debunking the claims of the NPP that the so called persons were NDC thugs deployed to the Damongo constituency.
“The NPP failed to give the reasons for the arrest, failed to to give details of the harm, threat or damages caused but were quick to jump into a weird conclusion that the so called arrested persons were NDC thugs brought by the NDC into the Damongo constituency for whatever reason, we don’t know”, the NDC rejoinder stated.
The rejoinder from the NDC added that they will not fall for such wild, evil and contemptible lies and as such will not want to waste time debating an already failed arm chair party regional executives that are trying so hard to be seen as working by their superiors in Accra.
“Such fake stories are capable of causing serious tensions in the region and we call on the security services, particularly the police to as matter of urgency invite whoever is behind this false accusation for strict interrogation and hence be used as a scapegoat to deter others who may engage in such despicable acts in the near future”, the NDC rejoinder stressed on.
