The Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area Abdulai Jinapor has pleaded with the Government of Ghana to relocate residents of the area affected by flood waters.
Buipewura said he has hundreds of acres of land available for the victims to be relocated.
The Paramount Chief stated this at his palace when the Inter-ministerial committee put by the President to look into matters of flooding in the country paid a courtesy call him on him as part of their working tour to the access the extent of damaged caused and deliver relief items to the victims.
Neripewura who read the welcome address on behalf the President of the Buipewura Traditional Council said he has been having sleepless night over the situation and hence pleaded with the Government to relocate them to a higher ground adding that videos and pictures on the screens are a reality.
He said thousands of properties have been destroyed including 1821 household been displaced,1073 male adult,1130 female adult,1457 male children and 1706 female children totalling 5296 displaced
Addressing the chiefs and people of Buipe The Chief of Staff at Jubilee House Hon. Akosua frema Opare described the situation as devastating and needs government attention.
The Chairperson of the Inter-ministerial committee said the reason for the committee formed was for the Akosombo disaster but the President has tasked them to consider Buipe due how bad their situation was.
She said on the request of the Chief they shall relay the information to the President.
The Chief of Staff said the President understands the situation that is why he put up all these relevant ministers together to properly access the situation for an everlasting solution and promise to a better work would be done to find a lasting solution to the challenge.
