Member of Parliament for the Sawla- Tuna-Kalba constituency, Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey has expressed panic over what he described as continuous armed robbery attacks on the Sawla- Wa highway following the shooting of two residents of Sawla on Thursday afternoon.
Four suspected armed robbers shot and killed two residents after launching an attack on a mobile mobile money vendor and phone dealer in a broad day light robbery in the heart of Sawla town.
The MP speaking to Yagbon News on the incident stated that this ‘sad and unfortunate’ incident is becoming one too many, causing fear in residents “.
The concerned MP, while expressing his condolence to the bereaved family called on the law enforcement agencies to prevent the re-occurrence of such incidents.
“It is sad to note that armed robbery is becoming too rampant in my constituency and is scaring residents, particularly business men and women from engaging in their daily economics activities for their livelihoods.
“I would, therefore, like to appeal to the interior minister through the IGP to provide logistics to the police in my constituency to prevent the re-occurrence of this “sad and unfortunate” incident and the loss of lives and properties” he told Yagbon News.
According to him he has filed a question in Parliament somewhere two years ago on the insecurity nature of the area and the need to beef up security matters in the area, but has since not received any favourable response.
