The Communications Directorate of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Savannah region has debunked allegations by the Northern NDC caucus in parliament that there is no borehole constructed by the NPP in the region after been in power for five years.
A press conference by the NDC Northern Parliamentary Caucus addressed by the Member of Parliament for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Constituency of the Savannah Region, Andrew Dari Chiwitey, alleged that unlike other parts of the north, the Akufo-Addo government has not provided any borehole in the Savannah Region.
But in a the reactive press release by the Director of Communications of NPP in the region, Mr. Issah Mohammed noted that the NPP is the sigh of relief in the Region when it comes to water projects.
He added that the ruling government has been phenomenal as compared to what the erstwhile NDC government did on the provision of water to the people and therefore has an unprecedented record in the subject area.
“The NDC in the Savannah Region and former President Mahama should be the last persons in this world to start any discussion on water. The Damango water project that happened only on the lips of the only grandson of our revered Yagbonwura who ascended to the Presidency, Mr. John Mahama, is still fresh in our minds. The NDC may wish to desist from provoking the people of Gonjaland further”, he said.
“For the avoidance of doubt, it is not true, that the NPP government has not done a single borehole or water project in the Savannah Region. In fact, the ruling government has been phenomenal as compared to what the erstwhile NDC government did on the provision of water to the people.
May I with your indulgence take you through some of the boreholes and town water projects that the NPP government under the able leadership of H.E President Akufo-Addo and the competent Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has done for the people of Savannah Region”, Mr. Issah Mohammed added.
