A new computer laboratory to facilitate the teaching and learning of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) has been commissioned for basic schools in Gindabou in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region.

The new facility, the second of its kind in the District after the Sawla town one is fully furnished with 32 new desk top computers and accessories and an installed internet satellite  was donated by Mr Seidu Nuhu Banasco, the Founder of Nasco Feeding Minds at a cost of GHC 140,000.00.

Mr Banasco, said the technological revolution in the 21st century meant that school children needed to be equipped with the requisite skills and knowledge to enable them to meet challenges and opportunities they were likely to meet in future.

He appealed to school children to embrace Information Communication Technology (ICT) studies in a bid to fit into a sophisticated and technologically biased world.

According to him, ‘it has therefore become imperative to rethink of how we respond to learning needs of the time’.

He said the whole world had gone digital hence it was incumbent on school children to take advantage of new possibilities that come with these opportunities.

Mr. Banasco, said Nasco Feeding Minds seeks to ensure that ICT was made available to school children to ensure that the future generation succeeded in taking over the leadership of the country.

This goal, he said, would be realized through the development of intervention projects that provided essential support to children especially the under-privileged ones.

He said through a number of projects such as the establishment of ICT centers across the District and donation of computers Nasco Feeding Minds and its partners has implemented several initiatives aimed at improving access to quality education for children.

Mr Banasco, Executive Director of Nasco Feeding Minds, entreated the teachers, school children and the entire community to use the facility for its intended purpose to enable the school children to derive maximum benefit from it.

Speaking on behalf of the Director of GES, Mr Braimah Abass, thanked Nasco Feeding Minds for the gesture.

He however, also appealed to the NGO to support the District Education Directorate with ICT for smooth operations of their activities.
