The National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament (MP) for Sawla -Tuna-Kalba Constituency in the Savannah Region, Andrew Dari Chiwitey has been honoured for his hard work and contributions to the development of the constituency.

The Yerikoi Mekaa Youth Association (YEMYA) held its annual festival over the weekend, drawing participation from community members, traditional leaders, and dignitaries, including the Member of Parliament for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey, who joined in the celebrations.
In his address, Hon. Chiwitey extended heartfelt congratulations to the chiefs, elders, youth, and the entire Yerikoi community for organizing a successful event. He praised the formation of YEMYA, describing it as a bold initiative that reflects the community’s dedication to growth and development. He noted that the association’s various developmental projects exemplify his personal motto: “Together, we Develop.”
He acknowledged the community’s appreciation of his earlier donation of 80 bags of cement, which supported a local project.
To further boost development efforts, he announced the provision of an additional 40 bags of cement. He also donated GHC 2,000 to the women of the community to facilitate the repair of a broken-down borehole, aimed at restoring access to clean water.
Hon. Chiwitey also recounted a touching experience from his campaign tour to Yerikoi last year, where he encountered three students — two girls and a boy — who walk long distances from Yerikoi to Kunfugsi to attend junior high school. Moved by their determination, he promised to support them with bicycles, a promise he confirmed had been fulfilled as the three students received their bicycles during the event.
He further pledged to work closely with the Ghana Education Service and the local community to secure a junior high school for Yerikoi, eliminating the need for long commutes for students. He used the occasion to encourage the youth to remain dedicated to their education and to draw inspiration from positive role models within the community.
The festival ended on a note of unity and shared vision, with a renewed call to work together for the holistic development of the constituency.
