The secretary to the Kong wura of the Kong Traditional Area, Mr Amidu Mutalim has said the Kongwura, His Royal Highness Adamu Seidu Jenkurige(l), is to pay attention to policies of economic empowerment for the youth as a matter of urgency to reduce unemployment in the area.

He indicated that it was also important that efforts at creating employment for the nation’s youth must involve creating opportunities in the informal sector.

He made this declaration to Yagbon News in preparation towards a 5 day meeting with stakeholders to be held by the Kong Traditional Area from Sunday August 9-Thursday August 13, 2020.

According to Mutalim the purpose of the meeting is to build the capacity of the Kong Traditional Area towards the establishment of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs and empowerment of the youth to gainfully acquire jobs in the area.

He added that the meeting which is organised by the Kong Traditional Area in collaboration with Jaksally Development Organisation and the University for Development Studies would also draft a strategic plan for the Kong Traditional Area which will serve as a guide towards development of the area.

The meeting is expected to be honoured by the Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Salifu Adam Braimah while the minister of Chieftaincy and Culture is expected to be present as the guest speaker.
