Hon. Abdulai Mohammed, Assembly man for Kawurbi Electoral Area of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Assembly in the Savannah Region, has commissioned a mechanized borehole and a stand pipe for two communities.
At the commissioning of the two facilities, he noted that the challenges facing the people in the communities were due to the unavailability of water over the past years.
That, he said, made him to construct the borehole and a stand pipe for them.
The beneficiary communities included kawurbi that got a stand pipe while kupiryiri had a newly commissioned mechanized borehole.
Addressing community members Alhaji Abdulai Mohammed said he see’s this a community service which is satisfying.
He said when they cried about the water challenge he never slept but had to contact benevolent people who assisted him in providing these facilities because water is the most essential commodity to mankind survival.
The Assembly Member admonished them to take good care of the facilities as it belongs to them adding that water is a basic necessity for that mater one must know how to take care of it for sustainability.
He told Yagbon News in an interview that a women group in Accra assisted in the provision of the facilities but did not disclose this women group identity and said where ever they are Allah will bless them.
The Electoral Area he said has is at heart his heart and that he will do everything possible to see it develop.
A resident of of the beneficiary communities who spoke on behalf of the members of the Electoral Area, Mr Baa-or Tier, said they thanked Almighty God for leading the Assembly Member to the helper in rescuing them from the difficulty in accessing potable drinking water.
He thanked him for the kind gesture adding that he is not the first Assembly Member of the area but this has never happened.
Naarubanture Lawrence, with the District Environmental Unit, stressed the need for the beneficiaries to take good care of the facilities and should not allow children below twelve years not to manhandle the borehole.
He called on them to embrace proper sanitation practices not to attract any sanction.
A member with the Sawla Water Board, Mr Abubakar Issah told them to see the facilities as a blessing because water is life.
He said if one gives you water he has given you life explaining factors that necessitated community settlement in the olden days saying water was the primary factor.
A representative of Sawlawura equally admonished them to take good care of the facilities.
On the 10th of May, 2021, Alhaji Abdulai Mohammed donated items to over forty (40) widows to empathize with them at the end of the Islamic month of Ramadan.
The Items included; mini bags of polish rice, frytol oil, noodles, canned fish among others.
He also renewed over 40 residents health insurance scheme of his electoral area, and renovated the only surviving public toilet in the area as part of his services to his residents.
