The Bole branch of tailors and dressmakers association has held its first graduation ceremony at Bole over the weekend.
The ceremony saw thirteen apprentices graduating with certificates after completing their course of training from seven different trainers.
Addressing the graduands, the Savannah Regional chairman of Garment Association, Mr. Ibrahim Abubakari, encouraged the graduands to embrace the profession with all the seriousness that it needs.
He however lamented how young men have neglected the profession for women making it look as if it is for only women.
He encouraged all in the tailoring and dressing making industry to join the Garment association for it has a lot of benefit leading to the gaining of a certificate from NVTI.
Bole Branch chair person of the association Alhassan Masata recounted how a member lost a contract worth thousand Ghana Cedis for not holding a recognized certificate as a dress maker and hence the need for one to obtain a certified certificate by joining the association.
She said the men were not doing well in the industry but assured that they will encourage the men to learn the trade.
Alhaji Imoro Fuseini, the NDC constituency chairman who presented thousand Ghana cedis to the association on behalf of MP congratulated all the graduands and urged them to work harder.
He said that the MP is always ready to support the association and that they can all testify how he has supported the association in diverse ways.
He assured of joining them during their congress as he will be available to grace the occasion.
