Hundreds of residents on Holy Saturday poured onto the principal streets of Sawla to participate in a walk dubbed: “24-Hour Economy Health Walk.”
Organized by the Sawla -Tuna-Kalba youth wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the walk saw most participants adorned in a 24-hour economy branded T-shirts and other NDC identifiable attires.
The constituents gathered at the Sawla round about around 6:00a.m. and walked through some principal streets in the area, amidst singing and dancing.
The walk ended at the Sawla D/A primary school at about 9:00a.m.
Deputy regional secretary, constituency executives and Member of Parliament for the area also participated, who carried placards with inscriptions that sought to explain the 24-Hour policy and the need for the party to return to power.
Various speakers at the end of the walk bemoaned the current state of affairs in the country, saying the Ghana the NDC handed to the New Patriotic Party (NPP)-led government some seven years ago was better than what pertained now, hence the call on Sawla -Tuna-Kalba constituency to aid in the party’s return.
Hon. Andrew Dari Chiwitey speaking at the event emphasised the importance of the 24-hour economy policy, saying it would revolutionise the system and create more job opportunities, particularly for the youth.
The NDC Parliamentary candidate , said: “The 24-hour Economy simply means a game changer, food for everyone and jobs for the people.
He said the next NDC government would be an administration for the youth and urged them to campaign to win more votes.
He promised that upon the return to power of the Flag bearer, Mr John Dramani Mahama, Sawla -Tuna-Kalba constituency would see the development she so desired.
Hon. Chiwitey said: “Sawla-Tuna- Kalba is NDC’s root” and appealed to the residents to give their massive support to the party in the December elections.
He reiterated that he was going to retain the seat with a wider margin looking at his massive development he brought into the constituency in almost all essential areas such as provision of water, improving educational standards, health promotion among others.
The MP, however, warned that the minister of Lands and Natural Resources,Hon.Samuel Abu Jinapor should stop meddling with the Sawla -Tuna-Kalba constituency because their votes are not for sale.
According to him, the minister should rather channel those monies into providing water to his constituents, thus; Damongo who are dying of thirst.
He appealed to her constituents to vote for him the third time and bring back Mr Mahama for a prosperous Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, assuring the next Mahama administration would not abandon them.
