Head porters numbering about twenty- one (21) have been quarantined at Sonyo in the Bole District after they returned from Kumasi yesterday.
According to the Assembly Member, Hon. Amadu Mohammed, a sprinter bus was loaded with head porters on route Sonyo but was stopped by the community members upon arrival.
Hon. Amadu, told Yagbon News that, health officials were quickly informed and their temperatures were recorded.
The Assembly man said the young ladies have since been quarantine in a school at Sonyo.
They are to under go the 14 days mandatory quarantine period after which they would be tested for the Covid-19 virus.
The DCE for the area also confirmed to Yagbon News in an interview of receiving the young ladies from Kumasi yesterday and hence are under quarantine.
The president of the nation, Nana Akufo Addo on Friday announced a partial lock down of hot spots of the virus which includes parts of the Greater Accra Region, parts of Ashanti Region and Awutu senya- East municipality in the central Region.
This therefore caused a lot of people to return to their hometown’s and subsequently the head porters who were in Kumasi decided to come home, Amadu said.
All attempts to to get the Bole Health Director to comment on the issue proved futile.
