Global Communities engages Bole Traditional Council its activities.

Global Communities, a Non -Governmental Organization which has been operating within the Bole Traditional Area for years has met with the Traditional Council to solicit for support and agreed on timeline at ending Open Defecation Free.

In a welcome address Bolewura Sarfo Kutugefeso I said the activity in the area is historic and must be given the needed attention.

He admitted to have seen the achievement of the NGO especially in the Sawla- Tuna-Kalba and Bole Districts.

He admonished every Chief to support the NGO in executing their mandate.

In a presentation, the Northern Sector Program Coordinator, Mr Dominic Dapaah, said the NGO started in 2007 but began in the North in 2015 with Wash for Health project which was aimed at improving hygiene in six regions with all five Region in the North inclusive and Oti which covers 30 Districts.

He said the Wash for Health has provided small town water system to Kalba, Mandari and Tuna.

However the project has ended with a new project called Enhancing Wash Activity.

He said the project is expected to improve the sanitation condition of over 300,000 of which 250,000 are to benefit from water supply.

He said the new project considered Bole and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District but in 2023 captured West and North Gonja Districts.

In terms of ODF he said 370 has been certified with 284 in the Sawla-Tuna- Kalba and 83 in Bole District.

He expressed his gratitude to all communities in Mankuma area and Kalba community.

Mr Dappah expressed disappointment over the lackadaisical attitude of the people of Tuna and Mandari for not getting to ODF status saying they are the biggest beneficiaries of the project but ungrateful to the project.

He told the Traditional Council to let them achieve a District wide ODF by the end of 2023 to continue benefiting from the project.

He said the Traditional Area has got good records that is why they considered the area in the new project.

He also expressed gratitude to those who have house hold latrine and said those with latrine should support the rest to also construct theirs because the causal agent is house fly and it doesn’t identify those with latrines or not.

In a closing remarks, Mandariwura Enumu Taase Kran Kungfo l , expressed his gratitude on behalf of Bolewura for the attendance and said as they have heard they would practice adding that who will like to eat faecal matter but if we are not ODF we will be eating each other’s faeces.

He thanked Global Communities and encouraged the chiefs to support their the project.
